Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. was placed in 15th position in the race results of the Michigan 500 Presented by Toyota, after retiring because an engine failure.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "My Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports team did a fantastic job, the car was great. I stayed on the lead lap and I was regaining positions consistently. I was in the 13th spot when my car was smoking a little bit. Then, they asked me to pit, because we could not continue on the track."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "Michel (Jourdain Jr.) drove a brilliant race today. We stayed on the lead lap until the engine expired on lap 163. We ran as high as 11th after starting 22nd and this was our first long run on a Superspeedway."
