Michel Jourdain Jr., Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports driver started today a three-day testing session on the 1.25-mile circuit of Firebird (East), in Phoenix, in preparation for the 2000 FedEx Championship Series.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "This testing was great. I tested here for the first time in a Champ Car back in '96. So, in the morning I mainly had to learn the track again and also, I had to do some laps to clean the track. I am very happy with the team. They have been working very hard between testings to have the car ready to come here. Part of the crew stayed in Indianapolis in order to receive the new car and have it ready for our next test in Homestead. We are learning a lot and I am really impressed with the way they work."

Tom Brown, Managing Director/Chief Engineer, Herdez/Bettenhausen: "We went all through three sets of tires, we've got almost a hundred miles in it. It's still frustrating, because we wanted more miles, but we've got very good information. We got pretty good speed. We got a 49.26-seconds lap in a new set of tires. So, I am quite pleased with that."

The team will continue with the scheduled Thursday testing session tomorrow in the Firebird International Raceway.
