MIAMI (March 15, 2000) -- CART will be making a pit stop in downtown Miami on Tuesday en route to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the March 24-26 Grand Prix of Miami presented by Toyota.

At least 11 of the CART FedEx Championship Series transporters will parade through the streets of Miami, beginning at noon on Tuesday, March 21. Among the teams expected to participate include Newman/Haas (Michael Andretti and Christian Fittipaldi) and Target Chip Ganassi (Juan Pablo Montoya and Jimmy Vasser).

The transporters will stage on Watson Island at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The parade route will take the million-dollar rigs across the MacArthur Causeway and head South on Biscayne Blvd., through downtown Miami. The transporters will then take Interstate 95 to Route 836, to Route 826, to the Turnpike and then finally to Homestead and the Speedway.

The public is invited to see the beautiful rigs, free of charge. Good viewing will be on Biscayne Blvd.

Practice for the Grand Prix of Miami presented by Toyota begins on Friday, March 24, with qualifying set for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The race takes the green flag at 2 p.m. Sunday.
