PROVISIONAL TIMES QUICKER DUE TO WET TRACK CONDITIONS - Team Player's driver Alex Tagliani will start fifth for tomorrow's Grand Prix Americas as times from today's qualifying session were not faster than yesterday's provisional times. Consequently, Tony Kanaan will start from the pole, followed by Scott Dixon and Tora Takagi.
ALEX TAGLIANI (#33 Player's/Indeck Ford) - Qualified 5th - "There's a lot of tar on the track and it was being sprayed by the cars in front of me and it was a difficult situation because of the changing conditions. It's good that we qualified well yesterday because nobody improved their position. It's too bad because I think we had a car good enough to move up into the front row but unfortunately we couldn't show that today. I'm very confident for tomorrow but I just hope there's no rain."
JIMMY VASSER (#8 Shell Ford) - Qualified 12th - "It was a tough day for everybody today and this is a new experience for us at a track like this. It was an extremely slick track out there in the one section and I honestly can't understand how they can't figure out what kind of pavement to put down for these cars."
MICHEL JOURDAIN, JR. (#9 Gigante Ford) - Qualified 15th - "It was one of those things that you had to be in the right place at the right time. Everybody at the end got an extra lap but for us we didn't because we're at the end of the pits and we just got two. But the conditions were the same for everybody today. I hope it rains tomorrow because I think we have a good car in the rain, but if it doesn't it's going to be hard to start from the back."
PATRICK CARPENTIER (#32 Player's/Indeck Ford) - Qualified 17th - "It was either first or nothing today and were running third at one point in the session. Just before the last little sprint I thought we had a chance to get it so I left the pit really aggressive. I went around what they call the horseshoe, which is really slippery, and it wasn't too bad that time. So I started accelerating and the next corner was as slippery as it was before and I just backed it in, but we tried." WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE RACE CONSIDERING YOUR STARTING POSITION? "It's going to be tough because it's such a tight racetrack. I think we'll be able to make a couple of passes, but it is tight. I think it should be a tough race and hopefully we'll make some passes, but the guys are really going to have to help me in the pit lane."
MARIO DOMINGUEZ (#55 Herdez Ford) - Qualified 18th - "We just seem to have all the bad breaks this weekend. We crashed this morning and everybody else who crashed goes to another car and starts racing again. But for us it started raining and we couldn't do anything. Then we went out in the rain during qualifying and were very quick and for most of the session I was in the top two or three. I think I could've gotten it in the end but I just ran into some traffic so I guess that's how things go sometimes. But third-fastest in the session isn't bad considering how our weekend started out."
