CHAMPCAR/CART: Miami: American Spirit Team Johansson Friday report

JIMMY VASSER, #12 American Spirit/Ford-Reynard/Cosworth

Vasser on Qualifying:

"I think we underestimated the size of the bump on our set-up. They are going to grind it tonight, but we are also going to make the car softer for tomorrow. We have a pretty good idea of where to start for tomorrow; we made some progress today considering the weather."

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #31 American Spirit/Ford-Reynard/Cosworth

Hunter-Reay on Qualifying:

"Qualifying was especially tough because I had never run on the track dry before. The track this afternoon is completely different than the track this morning. Basically we just had to go out there and push it as hard as possible and just keep it off the wall. The bump on the chicane is the biggest bump I have ever experienced on a racetrack. I literally lost all sight of the track when I was up in the air, you hang on tight and then you land again and get right on it; it is interesting to say the least."

Stefan Johansson, Team Owner:

"It was a crapshoot out there today with the weather. It was so wet during practice this morning and then really nice for qualifying so it was a bit of a guess on what to do with the set-up. We did a good job considering those circumstances and that gives us some extra confidence for tomorrow. Hopefully it stays dry tomorrow and we get a better opportunity to develop the set-up. Bruno did a great job; Newman Haas has figured this place out."
