October 10, 2003, Mexico City, Mexico 0x2022 Alex Tagliani, driver of the No. 33 Johnson Controls Lola was tenth in the first qualifying session for the Grand Premio Telmex/Gigante Presented by Banamex/Visa in Mexico City. Tagliani qualified with a time of 1:29.882 (111.586 mph, 179.580 km/h) but is hoping for better results in Saturday's qualifying session at the historic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

"It's great to be back in Mexico City and to feel the tremendous enthusiasm of the fans...and it's only Friday," said Tagliani. "I'm not too enthusiastic about the car right now. There's too much push and very little grip. We're going to work on making it stiffer and reducing the understeer. We lost power and speed between the sessions, so we're going to look at the engine too. I'm sure it'll be better for tomorrow's session, but we have some work to do before then."

Tagliani is currently ninth in the Champ Car World Series standings with 91 points. He has secured two poles and three podiums among his ten top-ten finishes for the first year Rocketsports team.
