Carpentier finished sixth overall posting his best lap time around the 4.484-kilometre (2.786-mile) road course in 1 minute 29.881 seconds for an average speed of 179.582 km/h. Carpentier hit the wall 10 minutes into the 75-minute session. His crew work feverishly to change the damaged right front suspension and he was back on the track with 10 minutes left in the session where he posted his quickest lap.

As for Tracy, he finished 13th overall with a lap time of 1 minute 30.625 seconds (178.108 km/h) around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The Canadian driver had to sit out the last eight minutes of the session for causing a stoppage of the action when he spun out with 10 minutes to go. That was the time when most of the drivers set their best times of the day.

Michel Jourdain topped the chart in this morning's session lapping the track in 1 minute 29.484 seconds. The Mexican driver averaged 180.379 km/h. Second quickest was his fellow countryman Mario Dominguez, followed by Oriol Servia of Spain. As for Canadian Alex Tagliani, he finished 14th behind Tracy.
