Dominguez Prepared to Launch the TECATE Car to the Front of the Pack
The faithful fans of Mario Dominguez roared as the "Official Driver of Mexico City" qualified for his seventh Grand Prix in his hometown today. Dominguez and his teammate, rookie Alex Figge fought an unstable car most of the day, but both drivers are optimistic they made many improvements through the day. The PCM team is confident they can battle through the field with fast pitstops, superb driving and the elation from the nearly 100,000 roaring fans that jump to their feet each time their hometown hero, Mario Dominguez blasts down the front straight.
Earlier in the day, the children from Adulam, an orphanage in Mexico City visited Mario and Alex at work. The PCM duo delighted the children with photos, autographs and a few lucky kids sat in Mario's TECATE race car.
MARIO DOMINGUEZ, #28 TECATE/PCM/COSWORTH/BRIDGESTONE
Mario on qualifying: "I am quite puzzled actually. My team did a great job and we made a lot of progress with the car today. We have been trying to settle the rear down and by final qualifying the car felt stable, but just slow. I am not sure, it is a strange situation. We are going to go through a lot of data tonight and see what we can figure out. We are going to give a big show tomorrow and find our way to the front in the TECATE car."
Alex Figge #29 PCM/TECATE/COSWORTH/BRIDGESTONE
Alex on qualifying: "We're definitely struggling. We're certainly working on it and making some improvements. The PCM team has the best pit crews in the business and we're going to give the crowds something to cheer for with the TECATE cars."
