Fittipaldi-Dingman Racing will make their second trip to Mexico for this weekend's Gran Premio Telmex-Gigante Presented by Banamex/Visa at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. The 2003 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series round 17 or 19 will run on the revamped 2.786-mile road course from Friday October 10th through Sunday October 13th. The team arrived in the Mexico City yesterday afternoon and is busy preparing for what should be an exciting weekend. The team has been very competitive of late, qualifying in the top 10 at both Denver and Miami with 11th place starting positions the two races prior to that. Now FDR is hoping to have a change in luck that will allow them to cash in on the great setups and competitive cars they've been fielding.
Driver Tiago Monteiro is looking forward to his first visit to the famed Mexico City circuit. "In Mexico you always have a crazy crowd and big fans," he said. "So I'm looking forward to that. Once again we have been quicker and quicker but we need a break. We have been in the points for the last few races but never been able to score them due to different outside problems. I'm really looking for a good run in Mexico. The track should suit me there and the car has been so much better to drive! I'm pretty excited!"
Team Manager Chris Mower is hoping for good things for the weekend. "It's great to be back in Mexico City," said Mower. "The track is fantastic, one of the best we'll visit all year. We hope to continue our recent competitive streak that we've had for the last few races. Our first objective is to qualify in the top 10 again and then during the race if we stay out of trouble and people don't run into us, then we should be able to have our best finish of the season."
The Gran Premio Telmex-Gigante Presented by Banamex/Visa will air live on SPEED Channel Sunday October 12th at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Tune in for all the fun and excitement.
