PKV RACING, CONQUEST RACING EARN SHERWIN-WILLIAMS 'IT'S ALL IN THE FINISH' COLOR AND DESIGN AWARDS IN MEXICO
MEXICO CITY (November 11, 2007) -- A couple of Champ Car Teams head into today's race as winners. Conquest Racing was chosen as the recipient for the Sherwin-Williams 'It's All in the Finish' Color and Design Award for the Mexican round of the competition while PKV Racing received the year-end prize for winning the award the most times in 2007.
Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes' 'It's All in the Finish' Color and Design Award is awarded to teams at selected events throughout the season. The judges are customers of Sherwin-Williams branches located in different cities that the Champ Car World Series visits. They choose the team with the best paint scheme by evaluating which car has the best color, design, gloss and overall appearance.
Teams normally receive a $10,000 cash prize, but Sherwin-Williams upped the ante for the season finale Gran Premio TECATE Presented by Banamex by offering a $20,000 cash prize to the winner. Needless to say, the teams worked hard in an effort to claim the prize.
PKV Racing positioned their cars under a lighted tent and handed out specially designed carbon fiber clip boards and caps to the judges during the evaluation round on Saturday. However, it was the pearl blue, white and metallic silver paint scheme of the Juniper Soul / Opes Prime Conquest Racing car driven by Nelson Philippe that earned the accolades in Mexico City.
"We are delighted to have won the Sherwin Williams 'It's All in the Finish' Color and Design Award this weekend," said Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing Team Owner. "We made a very strong effort to come up with a good presentation and we are grateful for the support and incentives that Sherwin Williams has provided all of the teams to enhance the Champ Car experience. This competition allows the teams to show off the DP01 and Sherwin Williams Planet Color paints to all of the fans."
While Conquest Racing won the single prize for Mexico City, it was PKV Racing that finished on top in the year-end tally with four wins thanks to the beautifully detailed paint scheme on the #22 Pay By Touch / MegaSpirea car as well as Neel Jani's #21 Red Bull / Gulfstream DP01. PKV Racing also takes home a $20,000 cash prize for this honor.
"We are very pleased and proud to have won the 2007 Sherwin-Williams 'It's All In The Finish' award, said PKV Racing General Manager, Mark Johnson "On behalf of everyone at PKV Racing I would like to thank Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes for their support for the Champ Car World Series."
Minardi Team USA is the only other team to have won the 'It's All in the Finish' Award with wins in Long Beach and Toronto.
