Manning secures first Champ Car top-ten start; Lavin to start 17th.

Rodolfo Lavin (R), #5 Corona Competition Team Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

"We improved on our times this morning and the qualifying time is about the same as what we were able to do then. I wish we could have done a better lap time, but given the limited track time we had yesterday. Today was a good day after what happened yesterday. We'll see what we can do tomorrow; hopefully we can score some points."

Fast Facts: Will be his third Champ Car start, First Champ Car start at the LBGP, Has seven consecutive previous starts at LBGP contesting races in Indy Lights (1996 -- 2000) and Toyota Atlantics (2001 -- 2002), Best finish at the LBGP is seventh running Indy Lights in 2000 and matched the effort in 2001 running Toyota Atlantic, Best Champ Car finish to date is 15th earned at the Monterrey Grand Prix (March 23)

Darren Manning, (R), #15 Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

"The car is a lot better than yesterday. Considering where we were coming from yesterday with a difficult car to drive; we virtually changed everything on the car overnight. This morning we were always in the top-ten, always within a second of the top guys, there was probably more time to come yet with a few little changes. A top-ten start is really going to help me out for the race tomorrow. We've been able to work our way through the field in the last couple of races and the guys always give me great pit stops, so starting further up in the field can only help."

NOTE: Manning's #15 RAC Walker Racing entry features the United States Air Force winged logo on the sidepods this weekend in tribute to our troops defending the United States.

Fast Facts: Will be his fourth Champ Car start and third with Walker Racing, Will mark his debut run on the streets of Long Beach, Currently tenth in the drivers' championship and second in the Rookie of the Year battle, Earned career-best Champ Car finish of seventh at the Monterrey Grand Prix (March 23), The #15 crew performed the fastest average pit stops of the Monterrey Grand Prix race
