Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
Long Beach, Calif.

#5 Pioneer Denso Reynard/Toyota/Bridgestone
Driver Tora Takagi Quote:
"I am pleased with the result from today. The car was consistent all day and the crew did a great job getting the pit stops done quickly enough to move up nearly every time I came in. The Toyota engine was really strong and the work that Toyota has done with the traction control system has made a big difference. Now I am really looking forward to going home to race in Japan with some good momentum from the result today.
Derrick Walker, Owner, Walker Racing
"We have felt all weekend that we had a top-6 car, so it is great to convert our speed from earlier in the weekend into a solid finish today. We really have to credit our crew, as our stops were fantastic, and that really helped us gain some positions and bring home more championship points. Tora did a really good job in the car today, being consistent and putting in a solid performance. This is a well-deserved result for the team, and now we are looking forward to going racing again in Japan.
Rob Edwards, Walker Racing Team Manager
"Today's result is really a credit to the team. They have worked hard all winter, and the results of that showed today. We were not quite as fast as we needed to be on the track, and since passing was fairly difficult on track, the quick stops from the crew really made the difference for us today."
Today's result of 6th place is Takagi's 2nd best road course finish (best is 4th place at Houston, 2001) in his Champcar Career. Takagi is competing in his second year of the CART FedEx Championship.
Walker Racing is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and is competing its 12th season in the CART FedEx Series. Walker Racing was the first team to compete in the Indy Racing League and the CART FedEx Series simultaneously. Walker Racing will race next at the Twin Ring 2.0 mile oval in Motegi, Japan on April 27th.
