LONG BEACH, Calif. (Sunday April 18, 2004) -- Rocketsports drivers Alex Tagliani and Nelson Philippe completed Round One of the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford, the 30th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

ALEX TAGLIANI - No. 8 Johnson Controls Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone Lola

"This is the second year for the Johnson Controls Rocketsports team and we came to Long Beach strong and prepared for a very competitive season. We started in fourth and the No. 8 Lola was fast, a definite podium car. We moved into third and held our position for many laps. We had a good race strategy and speed, which is most important. Our second pit-stop put us back a few positions from where the car should have been running, but stuff happens and we can't predict the outcome. We had a good race, but some bad luck, but this is only the start and we'll be in the hunt for podium finishes and great results all season."

NELSON PHILIPPE - No. 17 Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone Lola, sponsored by LeasePlan

"I felt amazing. It was a long race and it does feel good to finish, but I was right there and had a great race.I did everything right;focused on the track and my drive. I avoided the tangle early in the race and paid attention to let the leaders pass.Everything went smoothly with the LeasePlan car and team. The support from the team was perfect and I just got out there and did my own thing. For my first Champ Car race I am more than satisfied and confident we'll have a solid season."
