INSTANT REPLAY: Marlboro Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves started from the pole position and led wire-to-wire en route to his fourth career victory in the 2001 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The Brazilian became the first driver to lead every lap of a race since Bryan Herta led all 83 en route to victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 1999. Finishing second was Cristiano da Matta of Newman/Haas Racing, who departed Long Beach with the points lead on the strength of a victory in the season-opening race in Monterrey and the second place finish in Long Beach. Castroneves' Marlboro Team Penske teammate Gil de Ferran finished third, followed by Team KOOL Green's Paul Tracy.
