DEMANDING DAY FOR MI-JACK CONQUEST RACING IN LONG BEACH
Long Beach, California, Friday, April 7, 2006 - Mi-Jack Conquest Racing had a tough time today during first round of qualifying for the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Canadian Andrew Ranger registered a time of 1:10.147 (101.120 MPH) which put him into 16th place while his teammate, rookie Charles Zwolsman, was right behind him in 17th position after putting in a time of 1:10.147 (100.999) on the 1.968-mile temporary street course. Ranger struggled with the balance on his car all day while Dutchman Zwolsman was on a fast lap but got caught by a red flag that put an end to the session. The drivers will be back on track tomorrow morning for practice at 1:30 p.m. ET followed by final qualifying at 5:25 p.m. ET.
Andrew Ranger (#27 Tide/Mi-Jack/Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone):
"It was a hard day for the Mi-Jack Conquest team. We tried a lot of different things on the car and we had difficulty finding a good balance. It was only my third day in the car so I'm still getting the rust out but we will continue working hard and do better tomorrow."
Charles Zwolsman (#34 Mi-Jack/Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone):
"We got caught up at the end, which is too bad because we were on a fast lap that was about a half second quicker that what I had done. We made some improvements on the car since this morning, but we still have work to do to be in the top-10."
Chris Mower, Team Manager:
"We obviously have some work to do to improve our qualifying. Fortunately, we did not encounter any reliability problems so I am confident that we will do better tomorrow."
