Ryan Hunter-Reay's weekend has been consistent, but not as quick as he would like. Half-way into the morning session he was the ninth fastest car and the fastest Reynard, the top nine cars were already faster than the fastest qualifying times on Friday. He finished the session tenth quick with a fast time of 68.140. Hunter-Reay and the crew made changes changes to the car before qualifying and Hunter-Reay was the fastest car for a portion of the qualifying warm-up. With final qualifying under way, Hunter-Reay took to the track with 31 minutes to remaining, up to speed immediately, he set the second fastest lap on his third official lap and the fastest on his fourth, and he clocked the fastest lap again on his fifth official lap and returned to his pit. With 13.46 minutes remaining and in tenth place, Hunter-Reay returned to the track with fresh rubber as well as wing and shock adjustments. He held his position until the final lap of this session when he fell to twelfth. Hunter-Reay has started in the top 12 in every event thus far this season.

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #31 American Spirit/Ford-Cosworth/Reynard

Hunter-Reay on qualifying: "The car was a bit better today; we've really been working on it. We made changes in the right direction and it just wasn't enough. We are struggling with big under steer, especially in turns four, five and six. You can't get on the power when you can't get the car straight."
