Both American Spirit entries earn top-ten finishes.

In only four months time, American Spirit Team Johansson earned two top ten finishes with American drivers Jimmy Vasser and Ryan Hunter-Reay. It has been a difficult weekend for the American Spirit crew, fighting under steer, the set-ups changed up until race-time. Vasser started 14th, his crew chose an off pit strategy and it worked for the series only former champion, he fought his way through the field and earned his best finish of the season, bringing the #12 American Spirit Ford-Cosworth home in fourth position. In just his third Champ Car race, America's rookie, Ryan Hunter-Reay earned the top spot in the rookie chase and his best Champ Car finish thus far; he earned the seventh place finishing position. Both drivers jumped considerably in the points standings, Vasser is currently ranked fifth in the Championship points standings and Hunter-Reay jumped from 17th to 13th.

Jimmy Vasser, #12 American Spirit/Ford-Cosworth/Reynard

"It's a great result for us, especially considering the weekend we have had. We couldn't buy a break all weekend and our strategy really worked out for us today, I've got to give it to my guys. On top of that we had great pit stops all day; it's really nice to walk out of here with those points today."

Ryan Hunter-Reay, #31 American Spirit/Ford-Cosworth/Reynard

"It was a great day for us really, being only my second full race and we were the fastest Reynard all day long and the to finish the top Rookie was good. On top of all that, we had some good racing with Haberfeld and Manning. My crew did a great job in the pits. If we had had just a little different fuel strategy, I am sure you would have seen two Americans in the top five today."

Stefan Johansson, Team Owner

"I am very pleased, our results today were much better than we could have expected going into the race, after a really difficult weekend. Our strategy worked out big time today, especially in Jimmy's case. Ryan drove a fabulous race; he stepped up big time today. We got more than we could have ever expected from this race today, I am very pleased."
