Alex Yoong is much happier with his car following this morning's warm up session of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach when he posted the 14th quickest time of 19 cars with a time of 1m 11.137s which is a huge four tenths quicker than his qualifying time despite carrying a load of fuel in race trim this morning.

"The car is an improvement from yesterday's qualifying after overnight work by the boys. The boys discovered that the car had the wrong weight balance during yesterday's qualifying and if I had the car I have this morning for yesterday, it would have been at least P17 if not P15 instead of P19," lamented Yoong. "The trick for this afternoon now is to run as quick as possible, keep out of troubles and hope we have the right race strategies to achieve a strong finish. I'm looking forward to it."

Most cars were running around one second slower this morning from the qualifying times as the teams shakedown the cars for the race in 3 hours time under race simulated conditions.

Team owner Dale Coyne is optimistic for the race as he explained that "Alex would have been 8th or 9th this morning had his last quick lap not been aborted due to the red flag caused by Haberfeld's crash at the last minute of the warm up. We should look good for the race."

The 90 lap race will start at 1pm Western California time which will be 4am on Monday morning in Malaysia.
