Champ Car Announces Official Results of Las Vegas Event

LAS VEGAS (September 26, 2004) -- The Champ Car World Series made the results of Saturday night's Bridgestone 400 Presented by Corona official on Sunday, as series protest judges unanimously ruled that the protest filed by Rocketsports Racing after Saturday's race would not be upheld.

The protest judges ruled that Alex Tagliani would be dropped from 14th to 16th in the final standings for failing to honor a black flag given to him late in Saturday's race. Tagliani also lost the championship point that he had initially received for leading a lap. The resulting penalty gives Tagliani a total of 206 championship points and leaves him in fifth place in the standings with two races to run.

In addition, the penalty improves the finishing position for Walker Racing's Mario Haberfeld who moves up to 14th, and Dale Coyne Racing's Gaston Mazzacane, who will be credited with a 15th-place finish.

Attached please find the official box score of Saturday's Bridgestone 400 Presented by Corona.
