TEAM KOOL GREEN AT THE HONDA GRAND PRIX OF MONTEREY
Paul Tracy, #26 Team KOOL Green Reynard/Honda/Firestone: (Started 12th / Finished 26th at Laguna Seca in 1997; Currently 13th overall with 56 PPG Cup points; 1993 & 1994 Laguna Seca Race Winner; 1994 Laguna Seca Pole Sitter)
"I'm going to Laguna with more confidence than I've had in a while. I think we've overcome most of our problems in car setup and can concentrate on running up front. It felt good to be competitive last week in Vancouver and we had a productive test at Laguna the week before that. I've always liked the track and have won a couple of races there, so I'm hoping we can continue the turnaround of our season."
Dario Franchitti, #27 Team KOOL Green Reynard/Honda/Firestone: (Started 13th / Finished 13th at Laguna Seca in 1997; Currently 5th overall with 110 PPG Cup points)
"We're on a real roll at Team KOOL Green. We've won back-to-back races, earned four poles this season and took the (Marlboro) Pole Award money last week. But I don't know the Laguna circuit very well. We only tested there for one day this year, although that test went pretty well. I know the team will give me a competitive car; I'll just have to give it my best shot. Three in a row would be just fantastic."
Naoki Hattori, #27 Team KOOL Green Lola T97/20 (PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship): (Started 13th / Finished 20th at Laguna Seca in 1997; Currently 9th overall with 56 points)
"I'm looking forward to having a good result at Laguna. I like the circuit very much and we've been very competitive on road courses. The Team KOOL Green guys have worked hard all year to give me a good car and I want to give them at least one more podium - maybe a win - before the season ends."
Matt Sielsky, #15 LCI Swift-Toyota (KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship): (Team Green Academy Class of '96/'97 Graduate; Currently 4th overall with 102 points)
"I'm really looking forward to the race, even though it's yet another new track for me. After the way the car worked last weekend, we'll take that setup to Laguna and start from there. Because we have limited track time, it will be important to get the car setup quickly. Hopefully, I can run the race without a mistake and we can get a win there."
Alex Gurney, #27 Team KOOL Green Reynard-Dodge (Barber Dodge Pro Series): (Team Green Academy Class of '97/'98 Graduate; Currently 15th overall with 31 points)
"We haven't raced in almost a month, but I'm getting more comfortable with the car and what it takes to go fast. I'm at the point now that I expect to qualify well and be in contention for a podium finish. Of course, the series is so competitive that I know I'm going to have to fight for every position on every lap."
