LAGUNA SECA RACEWAY, Monterey, California (August 31) - Activities for next weekend's Honda Grand Prix of Monterey featuring the Texaco/Havoline 300 start next Tuesday, September 8, with the Rahal's Last Ride media luncheon in San Francisco.

On Thursday, Monterey City officials and members of the media will go up against CART Champ Car drivers in the Parallel Parking Challenge presented by Firestone at the Monterey Plaza Hotel at 10:30am. Afterwards, from 4-6pm, Mario and Michael Andretti will be pumping gas at the new Texaco station at the Crossroads in Carmel. Alex Zanardi and Jimmy Vasser will appear at the Target store in Sand City from 6-7pm.

Also, Bobby Rahal will be honored Thursday at La Gala Seca, an evening of dining and entertainment with drivers and celebrities to benefit charity. Featured is an auction for exclusive racing items such as helmets and a Champ Car nose autographed by drivers, original artwork and pace car rides. Fans really get up close and personal with their favorite racers. Tickets to the semi-formal event in the Flagroom at the raceway, from 6:30 - 10pm, are $65 per person. More information and tickets can be obtained by calling 800-327-SECA or 831-648-5100.
