WHAT: Round 8 of 19 in the FedEx Championship Series

He powered his way around the 2.361-mile temporary street course in 1:13.530 secon ds at 114.859 mph. Moore, the defending race winner from last year in Detroit, will share the front row with the man he is chasing for the points lead in Alex Zanardi. Zanardi navigated the 14 turns on the course in 1:13.822 seconds at 114.859 mph, while Adrian Fernandez s ecured the third position on the grid with a time of 1:13.842 seconds at 114.374 mph. Team KOOL Green's Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy find themselves further back for the start of tomorrow's race than they would like. Tracy and Franchitti fought ill-handling cars, as Franchitti qualified eighth with a time of 1:14.513 seconds at 113.344 mph and Tracy was 15th in 1:15.067 seconds at 112.507 mph. Meanwhile, in qualifying for the PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship, Brazil's Airton Dare won the pole for tomorrow's race at 12 noon. Dare lapped the circuit in 1:22.525 seconds at 102.340 mph, while his countryman and teammate Cristiano da Matta clock ed a lap of 1:22.723 seconds (102.095 mph). Together, they will line-up on the front row, while Tony Renna and Guy Smith occupy row two. Team KOOL Green's Naoki Hattori will start from the fifth position on the grid after posting a lap-time of 1:23.269 seconds at 101.426 mph. In qualifying for round three of the Barber Dodge Pro Series, Team Green Academy graduate Alex Gurney turned a fast lap of 1:33.480 and is 18th on the grid. The green flag for tomorrow's race falls at 8:30 a.m. ET. Dario Franchitti, #27 Team KOOL Green Reynard/Honda/Firestone: (8th lap-time of 1:14.513 seconds at 113.344 mph) "There was something wrong with the car this morning. It would not track in a straight line. I had to add lock under braking and I had to add lock when accelerating. Then in qualifying, we found that we had a broken upright fastener which made it quite exciting trying to keep the car off the wall. It broke as I was coming in for new tires. We couldn't change the part in time to get back out. It's a shame our first timed lap was only a second off the pole." Paul Tracy, #26 Team KOOL Green Reynard/Honda/Firestone: (15th with a lap-time of 1:15.067 seconds at 112.507 mph) "I was fighting the handling the whole time. We're struggling with the lack of grip in the car. I've got mid-apex understeer with big oversteer and wheelspin coming off the corner. I was just hanging out there. I'm off the walls on every corner. It's difficult to go as fast as you need with the balance of the car the way it is." PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Provisional Qualifying Naoki Hattori, #27 Team KOOL Green Indy Lights: (5th with a lap-time of 1:23.629 seconds at 101.426 mph) "I'm very disappointed because we had been fastest in the two dry practice sessions. But we got caught by the red flag (which ended the session early) before we could put new tires on. I still have a good race car and the changes to the track will make it easier to pass, so we should be able to move up in the race." Barber Dodge Pro Series Alex Gurney, #27 Team KOOL Green: (18th with a lap-time of 1:33.480 seconds at 90.347 mph) "I made some improvements in my driving. I tried a few different gears in different spots and some different lines. I picked up some big time, but so did everyone else."
