Herdez Bettenhausen driver Michel Jourdain Jr. soldiered through a long, hot, and muggy afternoon at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and brought his car home in 17th place, despite going a lap down and having contact with Patrick Racing driver Jimmy Vasser.

Conditions during the day varied greatly as the morning warm up was held on a track that was just drying from the morning's soaking rains. While the track was dry for the 83-lap race, the air was increasingly humid, making the day uncomfortable for all.

Michel Jourdain, Jr.
"We still didn't have the balance I was looking for in the car. We made a change for morning warm up that seemed to help some and the wing change we made on the first stop helped a little too. But I was still struggling with it every corner.

"I had intended to let Jimmy (Vasser) go around me since I was a lap down. But Max (Wilson) and Adrian (Fernandez) got together in front of us and they were going toward the outside of the track. I went inside and I didn't realize Jimmy had gotten that close already."

The CART FedEx Championship Series continues its Midwest run of races, traveling north next weekend for the Motorola 220 at Elkhart Lake's Road America on Sunday, August 19th.
