JOURDAIN JR. RETIRES EARLY IN THE G.P. OF HOUSTON

Herdez-Viva Mexico! Team driver Michel Jourdain Jr., who started from the 23rd position after running in the 15th spot, had to retire with engine problems. Concurrently, another driver hit the 22-year-old driver's car in an attempt to pass the Mexican driver. The incident caused a red flag.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #19 Herdez-Viva Mexico! Team: "At the beginning the car was performing well. I was able to overtake Mark Blundell. Unfortunately a valve broke and the engine started to lose power. Meanwhile, two or three times Robby Gordon hit me and when he tried to pass me entering the last turn, he hit me again with his right front tire, damaging my left sidepod. Despite this incident, I would be able to continue in the race, but then the engine broke."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director of the Herdez-Viva Mexico! Team: "Robby (Gordon) did a dirty move. All of what happened to us was very disappointing. We had a fresh engine for the race and although Michel was not running to full throttle because the rain, the engine blew."
