Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. after starting from the 21st spot finished 16th in the Motorola 300 race. Before this result, there was a string of nine DNF's in a row for the Mexican driver, whose best result in the season was an 8th position in Detroit, which was the last race that he finished.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We had problems with our set of tires and the car developed oversteer. We lost a lot of time trying to fix the problem, because the car was really bad. Also, the engine lost power and those problems hurt us very much."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We are very happy to finish a long race, as lot of valuable data that can be gathered. The team had to chase the balance on the car. During the race our weight jacker failed, which magnified the problem. We had an small engine problem early in the race."
