Memo Gidley (Target Toyota) gained 20 positions on his way to a third-place podium finish. The result is his third top-five and fourth top-10 finish in 11 races this season since joining the Target Ganassi team at Portland. Gidley also placed second at Cleveland and fifth at Chicago. Gidley led four Toyotas across the finish line among the first eight.
Rookie Tora Takagi (Pioneer Toyota) ran as high as second on his way a fourth-place finish -- his first top-five Champ Car finish. The Walker Racing driver gained 10 positions today on his way to his career-best showing. Takagi has now finished in the top seven in three of his past four starts including a sixth in Germany and a seventh at Vancouver.
Cristiano da Matta's (Texaco/Havoline Toyota) sixth-place finish is his 11th top-10 showing of the season. The result places him sixth in the championship with 100 points. After a third at Rockingham, da Matta now has finished in the top six in each of his past two races.

Gugelmin's teammate, Scott Dixon (Enron Toyota), ran as high as second today and was running third when he and Junqueira had contact.
Bruno Junqueira ran second much of the early going today before clutch problems while pitting dropped him into fourth place. His day came to an end when he ran into the rear of Scott Dixon's car while attempting to overtake him for third midway through the race.
