Houston Reserved Seats Went Fast

Houston, TX (September 23, 1998) - The reserved seats went fast for the inaugural Texaco Grand Prix of Houston. Reserved seats for all three days are sold out. There are still plenty of general admission tickets available for Friday and Saturday. General admission tickets for Sunday, October 4, are available by advance purchase only by calling (713) 739-7223. There will be no Sunday general admission tickets sold at the gates.

"Response to the inaugural Texaco Grand Prix of Houston has far exceeded our expectations," said general manager Tim Melvin. "We were sure we would have a lot of interest from ticket buyers all over the country, but the demand for tickets, paddock passes and corporate hospitality has genuinely surprised all of us."

Due to the layout of a temporary street circuit, the admission tickets are limited. "We want to be sure that everyone who comes has a pleasant time, said Melvin." "In that respect, we have to cut off ticket sales to ensure customer safety and comfort."
