HOUSTON, (September 10) - It's a classic event promoter's nightmare. While a number of tickets still remain to be sold for the upcoming Texaco/Havoline Grand Prix of Houston, there appears to be a strong perception in the marketplace that none are available. "We have been fighting this problem for more than a few weeks now," Dick Stahler, marketing director for the September 24-26 CART race through the streets of downtown Houston said.

"Many inquiries coming into our office are about ticket availability for next year on the presumption this year's event is sold out. Nothing could be further from the truth." With the race a little more than two weeks away, good tickets remain in every price category and most locations, Stahler notes. While he anticipates an excellent turnout for Texas' only CART event, a sell out is far from assured.

"Based on last year's enthusiastic reception, we added a number of prime seats along with additional Diamondvision screens," he said. "At this point, we have excellent availability in the full range of weekend and Sunday tickets. Anyone desiring tickets can purchase them from our ticket office locations at 1111 Fannin or The Park Shops or by calling 713-739-RACE."
