Helio Castroneves again led the Honda-powered field today at Portland International Raceway in qualifying action for Sunday's Freightliner/G.I. Joe's 200. After leading practice this morning, the Indy 500 winner will start his Marlboro Team Penske Honda from the inside of the second row.

The Team KOOL Green pair of Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy also improved today, with Franchitti fifth fastest and Tracy 13th despite having to miss the final eight minutes of today's qualifying - the result of causing a red flag during qualifying last weekend in Detroit.

Other Honda-powered drivers struggled today, primarily due to a horsepower reduction resulting from a turbocharger "pop off" valve rule change imposed by CART FedEx Championship Series officials at last week's race.

Helio Castroneves (#3 Marlboro Team Penske Honda) Qualified 3rd: "I believe that when I went off in the chicane early in the session I damaged something on the bottom of the car. Maybe something got bent or broken, I'm not sure. But the car was not as good as it had been earlier, and there's no question that we're down on power after the change last week. We're still very strong in the corners and who knows, maybe it will rain tomorrow!"
