For the second year in a row, Marlboro Team Penske drivers Gil de Ferran and Helio Castroneves will start 1-2 in tomorrow's Miller Lite 200 as the Honda-powered drivers again dominated CART FedEx Championship Series qualifying today at Mid-Ohio.

Defending series champion de Ferran set the standard for most of the half-hour qualifying session, but was briefly surpassed in the closing minutes by both Castroneves and Michigan 500 winner Patrick Carpentier. De Ferran quickly bounced back, reclaiming the top spot for his 13th career CART pole and Honda's series-leading sixth pole of the season.

Team KOOL Green's Dario Franchitti ran as high as third in the order until a spin at this demanding road course left his Honda Reynard with minor suspension damage. The Scot returned to the circuit after quick repairs, but was unable to improve on his time and ended the day in fifth. As in Friday's practice sessions, Tony Kanaan remained solidly in the top-ten today, qualifying seventh for Mo Nunn Racing, just ahead of Paul Tracy.

Gil de Ferran (#1 Marlboro Team Penske Honda) pole qualifier, his 2nd pole of the season and Honda's fourth consecutive pole at Mid-Ohio: "The car was a little twitchy on its first set of tires. So we took a little bit of front wing off the car and began our second run. But then the car had way too much understeer and I decided to come in to the pits for a final change. That turned out to be the right move for us today, because it made the car better and then I was fortunate enough to get a lap free of traffic. A good result for us, and the entire Marlboro Team Penske operation today."
