Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. started 21st and finished 14th in the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami after having a consistent run.
Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "With the first tank of fuel the car changed a lot developing some push. I took me some time to adjust the car with the weight jacker, but finally it was ok. Also, we made some changes during the first pit stop and with the second set of tires the car was great. Unfortunately, towards the end the car started vibrating. The last laps the vibration was worse and I thought I was not going to finish the race. But I did it. I am very happy with the team. They worked so hard and we have a lot of potential. Now, I am just looking forward the next race."
Tom Brown, Managing Director/Chief Engineer, Herdez/Bettenhausen: "I am very pleased with Lola (chassis) and Mercedes-Benz (engine). We had a great engine and the support from Herdez and all our sponsors was very helpful."
"This is our first race without Tony (Bettenhausen), Shirley (Bettenhausen), Russ Roberts and Larry Rangel, and it's very important for me, personally. All the support and backing from the people of Herdez. We had a lot of fun and there's still a lot of fun to come. Now, I am going to take a tequila," Brown said.
