It was a frustrating day for Bryan Herta and the Zakspeed/Forsythe Racing team. Herta was pleased with the changes his crew made to the car overnight, but really didn't get the opportunity to reap the benefits from the changes due to a missed shift on his approach to turn three on his first timed qualifying lap. Herta lost nearly 15 mph as he coasted through turns three and four resulting in a lap time of 26.933. Herta's second timed lap was also affected and Herta qualified in 22nd position, with a time of 26.786 at 208.049 mph.

Herta and his crew are optimistic about their race set-up and look forward to a solid race finish tomorrow in the Firestone Firehawk 500.

Bryan Herta #77 Zakspeed/Forsythe/Ford-Cosworth/Reynard
Qualifying: 22nd 26.786 - 208.049 mph

Herta on Qualifying:

"My car wouldn't go into gear going into turn three, and I coasted through turns three and four. So we lost that lap, and it pretty much killed our momentum for the next lap too. I'll definitely need to work my way up early and see if we can come away with some points at the end."
