HILLIARD, Ohio (January 26) -- Bryan Herta completed his first full day of testing behind the wheel of the Swift 011.c chassis today as he began a scheduled two-day session at Phoenix International Raceway.

Herta, who was one of several drivers testing on the one-mile oval, completed 110 laps in the new Honda/Swift package.

"We made good strides with the car, but we are really just scratching the surface," said Herta. "We started at around a 23.3 (seconds), and got down to a 21.9. We're definitely moving in the right direction. It's a learning process. So far the car has been very reliable, and we are learning how the car responds [to setup changes]. Unfortunately, it was very windy and dusty this afternoon."

The team completed an initial shakedown run last week at Laguna Seca Raceway, but the second day of testing was canceled due to bad weather.

"Mechanically the car is very reliable, but it is different than what we've worked with before so there's going to be a learning curve," said Steve Horne.
