Michel Jourdain Jr. today scored his first podium of his Champ Car career, finishing in 3rd position only 0.243 seconds behind winner Patrick Carpentier and side by side with second place finisher Dario Franchitti. Jourdain earns 16 points for this finish, adding to the two he earned at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan and moving him up four positions in the championship (to 22nd).

Michel Jourdain, Jr.

"It was such an unbelievable race. Our plan was to stay in the lead group for the first 450 miles and then be in a position to attack at the end. The race was really, really close and in the last laps I was sure that it was going to be between me and Dario for the win. But then suddenly Patrick (Carpentier) appeared and then Alex (Tagliani) from nowhere. It was a miracle that Dario and I didn't come together but I managed to pull the car back down and not hit him. I think we should both get the points for second place!

"I probably was running a little less downforce that some of the other guys out there - for sure I felt I was faster than Dario in turns one and two but he was faster in turns three and four so I knew I had to be in front of him going into those last corners. "I'm so proud to be a part of this series and I want to say thank you to my family, my sponsors and my team. The crew gave me perfect pit stops today. We stayed in the same position or gained on every stop and that's so important in a race like today."

The CART FedEx Championship Series moves to the "Second City" next weekend for the Target Grand Prix at Chicago Motor Speedway, round 12 of 21 scheduled for this year.
