All American Racers Head Off To Rio May 4, 1998 Rio 400 Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway Rio de Janeiro, Brazil May 8 - 10, 1998 All American Racers drivers PJ Jones of Scottsdale, Ariz. and rookie, Alex Barron of San Diego, Calif. jet off to Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday for Sunday's running of the Rio 400. The Rio 400 will mark round 5 on the 19 race FedEx Championship Series schedule. Jones started 25th and finished 16th in last year's running of the Rio 400 and hopes for a point's finish this time around. Teammate, Barron has never seen the 1.864-mile oval but hopes his debut will be a successful one. Driver Quotes: PJ Jones, #98 Castrol/Degree Toyota Reynard "I really enjoy racing in Brazil. The track is great because there's plenty of room to pass, which should make for an exciting race. I was running well at the Rio 400 last year and with the new reliability of the Toyota engine, it should be a good race for us." Alex Barron, #36 Castrol Degree Toyota Reynard "I really don't know what to expect. This will be the first time that I've raced in Brazil. I've heard that the track is a little bumpy and very fast. I'm going to spend all day Friday learning my way around the oval. My teammate, PJ has raced here before so I'm sure that I'll learn a lot from him."
