Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. will start from the 21st position in the Motorola 300 race. His best lap was a 26.377 seconds at 173.333 Mph.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #16, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "We made a lot of changes for the qualifying session, but the car developed a lot of understeer. Anyway, it's not that bad for the race. I feel disappointed, because we thought we would have a great car for this oval, but the race is long and the most important is to finish it. If we do so, we can achieve a good result."

Joe Ward, Team Manager, Herdez/Bettenhausen Motorsports: "After yesterday's practice, we developed the car to stay stable for the long runs. Unfortunately, we had a spring collapse during this morning's practice, which cost us valuable time for the qualifying setup. We qualified the car with too much push, which at this track is a disadvantage."
