LAUSITZ, Germany - Both Team KOOL Green drivers placed in the top-ten during today's afternoon practice session at the new 2-mile EuroSpeedway oval, with Dario Franchitti ending up 8th and teammate Paul Tracy coming in 9th. The two-hour session was the first time on track for CART FedEx drivers at the new facility, after rain forced the cancellation of the three previous practice sessions on Thursday and Friday morning.

Franchitti posted a fast lap of 204.562 mph (35.602 seconds) while Tracy's best lap was 203.812 mph (35.733 seconds). Teammates Tony Kanaan and Alex Zanardi joined forces to benefit from the speedway draft and topped the charts, with Kanaan first (210.34 mph / 34.624 seconds) and Zanardi second (208.134 / 34.991 seconds). Patrick Carpentier was third at 206.540 mph (35.261 seconds).

The inclement weather also caused the elimination of qualifying, and the starting grid for tomorrow's race will be set based on current driver standings. Franchitti will line up fifth and Tracy will start from the 11th position. Points leader Gil de Ferran sits on the pole.

In honor of the victims of the terrorist acts in the United States, CART announced that tomorrow's race has been renamed "The American Memorial." The race will begin at 1:30 p.m. local time. (7:30 a.m. EDT) and will air live on ESPN.

PAUL TRACY, #26 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD:
(9th with a lap of 203.812 mph / 35.733 seconds)

"It's a nice track, I enjoy it. I like the wing package that we have, it's better than we've had all year because the cars can run a lot closer to one another. It's a new track for everybody and the grid is kind of stacked forward with fast guys and it's hard to pass anywhere we go but I think this is going to be a good race. This is a good crowd and I'm really glad we were able to run today and I hope the weather holds out so Team KOOL Green can put on a show tomorrow."

DARIO FRANCHITTI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD:
(8th with a lap of 204.562 mph / 35.602 seconds)

"I think Team KOOL Green has found the set up, the car feels relatively good and coming out of the pits it felt really good. Ultimately, we didn't have the quickest car in the session but we know we have a quick race car which is more important. This place could be hard on gearboxes tomorrow because sometimes you have to shift in Turn 2. The track is not too bad actually, there's been a lot of passing out there and hopefully we gave the crowd a taste of what they are going to see tomorrow. It's great that everybody stayed through the bad weather and everything. It was a big crowd today (39,627) and I'm happy with that and hope to see them all tomorrow."

KYLE MOYER, TEAM MANAGER:
"We've had great cars all year on oval tracks like this, Motegi and Michigan, and so Team KOOL Green came to EuroSpeedway with a good setup. We really haven't touched the car, the best setup we have is the one we started with. We tried a couple of things but it seems like the car we started with was still the best. The disappointment is all the other team's got a lot of practice in so they were able to catch up with us."
