Forsythe Championship Racing Completes Productive Two-Day Test at Fontana
FONTANA, California -- March 9, 2005 -- Forsythe Championship Racing headed west this week to join five other teams on the infield road course at California Speedway in Fontana for two days of testing prior to the season opener for the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford on the streets of Long Beach, April 8th-10th.
Driver Paul Tracy (#3 Indeck Lola-Ford) and the team used the first day to evaluate an assortment of shock absorber packages. With the tight rule constraints implemented by the Champ Car World Series, shock absorber performance is a critical variable. "I'm pretty happy with how the day went" said Tracy. "We got through a lot of our test items and found some good things. Getting through the list took up a large part of the day but I think it gives us a great starting point for tomorrow so we can work on some other areas."
On Day Two, Tracy and the team focused on an assortment of aerodynamic components such as the ground-effect underwing and various front wing configurations, along with mechanical components including several transmission differential setups.
"We had a big list today and got a lot done, but I think at the very end when conditions were ideal we didn't have the optimum combination on the car and probably left some time out there on the track" said Tracy. "But we gathered a lot of good data and have a excellent baseline for the next test at Sebring."
Forsythe Championship Racing makes its next on-track appearance at Sebring, Florida on March 23rd-24th, the final test session prior to the season-opening event.
