Player's Forsythe driver Alex Tagliani recorded the eighth-fastest lap (59.183 seconds) during Friday afternoon practice for Sunday's Molson Indy in Toronto, Ontario. Team Rahal driver Max Papis was ninth-fastest in the afternoon (59.193 seconds), while teammate Kenny Brack bounced back from morning mechanical problems to post the afternoon's 11th-fastest lap (59.297 seconds).
MAX PAPIS (#7 Miller Lite Ford-Cosworth) - 9th-fastest during afternoon practice - "We were a little bit further back during practice this morning, but we were much more competitive during the afternoon session. I think we did a good job improving the car throughout the day, but I think we need to work a little bit more on the chassis. Right now our lap times are showing about where the car is, although we might be a little bit better than that, but our goal for tomorrow is to try and qualify in the top five."
KENNY BRACK (#8 Shell Ford-Cosworth) - 11th-fastest during afternoon practice - "We got a good feel for the car this afternoon and I think we're slowly getting to where we need to be. We still have some changes that we need to make, but I think we have a good base for tomorrow and a good understanding of the car. The problem is that everybody else is making changes too and it's hard to catch up."
MICHEL JOURDAIN, JR. (#16 Herdez Bettenhausen Ford-Cosworth) - 13th-fastest during afternoon practice - "The car is understeering in some places and oversteering in some others, and that's what we've been fighting all day. Hopefully we'll be able to make some changes and improve the car for qualifying tomorrow."
NONETHELESS YOU HAVE TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE TODAY.
"Yes and no because we'd like to be much faster, but the car is competitive. We would like to be much better, but we don't know yet what we need to go faster. We're still searching for that one thing that will help us find some more speed."
ORIOL SERVIA (#22 Sigma Autosport Ford-Cosworth) - 22nd-fastest during afternoon practice - "I think we've lost some speed over the last two races, but we are getting there. Today we didn't get up to the pace as quickly as we would have liked, but I feel we are on the way. We are five-tenths off the pace of the 10th-place car - 10th is not my goal, but it shows some progression from the last two races."
IS THIS A TOUGH TRACK TO FIND A GOOD SET UP FOR?
"It's always been a tough track because it's bumpy under braking and you have the concrete patches with no grip and it's bad everywhere. But it's bad for everybody and we just need to keep our momentum going and follow the path that we started today."
MAX WILSON (#24 Redback Networks Ford-Cosworth) - 24th-fastest during afternoon practice - "It was a tough day and we did struggle quite a bit. We didn't put a new set of tires on towards the end of the afternoon session because of the red flag that ended the session early so we didn't get a chance to try and put in a fast lap. I think we did a pretty good job of improving the car from this morning, although it's not as good as it should be. We have a lot of changes that we're going to make for tomorrow and we should have a much better car for qualifying tomorrow."
