FONTANA, California - After struggling to find speed all weekend, Team KOOL Green's Paul Tracy earned a fifth place starting spot for tomorrow's The 500 at California Speedway. Paul Tracy - #26 KOOL Honda-Lola-Bridgestone
"We're experimenting with how much downforce we wanted to run. We made the KOOL car very nervous in traffic. I'm pretty happy with qualifying though. I'm pretty happy with the speed, I didn't think I could go out there and do a lap at 230 (mph) by myself. In this race we want to be light on downforce so we can't be passed that easily. We still have to find out in the warm up where we want to start the race. This is our first race on a superspeedway with the Lola and we're trying to figure a few things out. I'm hopeful for tomorrow."

"It's a pretty good place to start and it was pretty good to hear Paul say 'the car was good'". Really though, qualifying here doesn't make all that much difference, it's a long race. Hopefully we can we see the checkered flag in Fontana."
Dario Franchitti - #27KOOL Honda-Lola-Bridgestone
"We had too much drag in the car. We knew we were being conservative, we didn't think we were being quite that conservative though! I was flat on the second lap. Allen McDonald (race engineer) didn't want to take too many chances, he didn't want to change the set up too drastically. I don't really think it matters where you qualify here, although it's always nice to put up the big numbers. I think we have a very good car, we made some good changes and hopefully Team KOOL Green will go out there and have a good race tomorrow."

"We thought we had more in the car, but that's qualifying. Every year we come into this place thinking don't worry about qualifying, then we get caught worrying about qualifying. We've got a good race car, that's the main thing and we've worked really hard on it this weekend. We thought we would have been in the top five, but we're not far from it. Qualifying really doesn't matter here, we just have to last all day. If we can last all day tomorrow, we'll be up near the front."
