The Herdez Competition team took a gamble today, attempting to improve the #55 car's grid position by forfeiting the original qualifying time of 32.158 seconds and presenting the back up car for qualifying. In doing so, the team was able to drop another 1/10th from the qualifying time. Unfortunately, it was not enough to move the car up the grid.
Mario Domínguez - Driver
"We just weren't as fast this afternoon in qualifying as we had hoped. We decided to take a shot at re-qualifying because we really felt we could do better based on this morning's practice. It would have been nice to start further up the grid but, especially on a superspeedway like this, it's all about what happens in the race."
Keith Wiggins - Managing Director
"We lost a bit of speed from this morning. Having expected to be quicker in qualifying, we decided to give it another run. As it turns out, we only beat our own time. But we felt it was worth the effort to make the attempt."
