Keith Wiggins - Managing Director
"The win in Australia last weekend is really a testament to the team as a whole. We've put a lot of effort over the past eighteen months into upgrading the quality of our staff, restructuring the company to make the business flow better, and providing the staff with the tools they need to get the job done. While the win was unexpected, we attribute it to a team effort. The primary car was destroyed on Friday so, when the race accident occurred, the mechanics had to get the race car repaired in a fantastically short time in difficult conditions. The guys on the timing stand developed a well-judged race strategy, based on the changing factors and some assumptions and all the elements came together in the right way. We feel that this win was just the first step and that, based on our potential on other ovals, we have an excellent opportunity this weekend to back it up with a good performance here at California Speedway."
Mario Domínguez - Driver
"The fans were great to me in Australia, my first win was a huge thrill, and it's great to have taken the lead in the Rookie of the Year competition. But now it's back to business. I'm really looking forward to returning to the US this week for the 500 at California Speedway. The engineering staff at Herdez, led by Chief Engineer Tom Brown, has given me really strong cars on the ovals this year and I don't expect anything different this time. We've had some bad luck at ovals this year -but now we think this has changed and we can back up the win at Surfers Paradise with a good performance this week at Fontana."
* The 500 marks Domínguez's 18th start in the CART FedEx Championship Series.
* Domínguez's currently stands 17th of 21 drivers in the series
Championship with 37 points. He also leads the Jim Trueman Rookie of the
Year Award competition by a margin of 18 points.
