A lot can change in a year, unless you're talking about race results at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. For the second consecutive CART competition on the challenging track, Helio Castroneves has started second and finished first, while his teammate Gil de Ferran has started from the pole and finished second.

Both Castroneves and de Ferran credited the consistency of their Firestone Firehawk racing radials for contributing to another great competition at Mid-Ohio. Even though an early morning hard rain had washed away rubber from the track, the Firehawks allowed the CART show put on one its fastest races at the track.

Firestone Racing Project Supervisor Joe Barbieri: "Another great race, another great performance from Marlboro Team Penske, and yet another outstanding contribution from the Firehawk racing radials. All weekend long, despite changing track conditions, the tires offered up their benchmark consistent performance, giving teams and drivers a definite advantage in fine-tuning their cars to this demanding course. We are extremely proud to be a part of the Penske program, and congratulate Roger, Helio and Gil for their amazing dominance this weekend."

Helio Castroneves : "The Firestones were fabulous. The rain washed away all the rubber we laid down yesterday, but we got back up to speed quickly and I went from zero to hero because they worked so well."

Gil de Ferran: "The consistency of the Firestone tires was outstanding. They just worked so well the whole race."

Qualifying temperatures ranged from 91 to 96 degrees track while ambient temperatures ranged from 78 to 82 degrees (F).
