Patrick Racing driver Roberto Moreno, victorious in today's Molson Indy Vancouver, gave much credit to his Firestone tires for their performance in his win. The emotional Brazilian said "the Firestones were superb today. They had really good grip in the corners, allowing me to go around Gil (de Ferran)." De Ferran finished second, followed by Michael Andretti in third.

Al Speyer: "After today's race there may be some members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police trying to turn in their horses for Firestone-equipped CART cars. I can't think of any more effective package if you're chasing someone who is trying to get away from you. The Firehawk we developed and provided for this event had the grip and durability drivers wanted - and we didn't see a lot of the marbles drivers don't want. Those qualities allowed some dramatic passes throughout the race, with a good amount of tire-to-tire action. Certainly one of the most impressive passes was Moreno going around de Ferran in a flat-out gutsy move for the lead. We congratulate Roberto and the entire Patrick Racing organization for the win. It was their day."

Pat Patrick: "The tires worked great. We had a good set-up and the Firestones were absolutely flawless."

Gil de Ferran, second-place finisher: "We had a great race, you know. The tires worked very well all day - we never had any worries about them. I want to thank the guys at Marlboro Team Penske for giving me such a good car."

Race temperatures ranged from 85 to 90 degrees track while ambient temperatures ranged from 70 to 74 degrees (F).
