Firestone: Pumped For Extremes

Track temperatures today ranged from 30 to 40 cooler than yesterday; despite that significant difference the Firestone Firehawks performed very well for all teams.

Quote from Joe Barbieri, Bridgestone/Firestone Motorsports Project Supervisor: "Bruno Junqueira has never raced on an oval, but you wouldn't know it from his performance here this weekend. He's been able to put the Target car anywhere he wants, and we're pleased to be a part of his effort. With such dramatic fluctuations in temperatures, you might expect some questions about tires, but the teams are telling us the Firehawks are working well no matter what the temperature. Based on information from teams about tire wear, we're in really good shape for tomorrow's race."

Quote from Mike Hull, Managing Director, Target/Chip Ganassi Racing: "The tires have worked great all weekend. In fact, durability wise, we ran over a hundred laps on each set of tires we had yesterday. For both Nick and Bruno we were working on race set-ups because they haven't raced here before, and the tires worked just great."
