Hollywood Mo Nunn Racing Mercedes driver Tony Kanaan's condition has been upgraded from the initial diagnosis immediately following his single-car incident in qualifying Saturday. Kanaan does not have a punctured lung, according to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART Director of Medical Affairs. Olvey said that Kanaan sustained a compound fracture of the left forearm, two rib fractures on the left side and a minor concussion - but not a punctured lung.

Kanaan will have an operation on his forearm at Detroit Receiving Hospital and would more than likely be released late Sunday or early Monday. Kanaan will return to his home in Miami, and Olvey indicated this type of injury usually requires six to eight weeks of recovery.
