DETROIT (March 16, 2000) - IMG Motorsports, organizers of the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, tonight announced the winner of the poster design contest for the 2000 CART race at Belle Isle Park.

Robert Graves-Wesolosky, Senior Art Director at Duffey, Petrosky & Company in Southfield, Mich., created this year's award-winning piece. The poster will be seen throughout Metro Detroit to promote this year's Grand Prix. The design combines an image of a Champ Car with the historic Belle Isle bridge.

The poster was unveiled at IMG Motorsports' Start Your Engines Party, the annual kick-off event for the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit. This is the 19th time the race will roll into the Motor City. Last year, almost 140,000 race fans populated Belle Isle for the race.

"The concept of the poster was to contrast the flash of color, motion and excitement that is the atmosphere of the race itself versus the relative peace and tranquil setting of Belle Isle," Robert Graves-Wesolosky said. "As a child I remember visiting the island, with the fountain and the bridge as my fondest memories, which inspired the black and white image represented on the poster."

"The poster design contest has become as big a part of the weekend as the race itself," IMG Motorsports President Bud Stanner said. "Robert's design showcases the essence of the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit."

"His creation emphasizes the emotion of auto racing and the unique setting of Belle Isle," Stanner continued. "We certainly would like to thank all 17 of the Detroit-area artists who entered the contest."

For winning the poster design contest, Robert will receive four prime grandstand tickets to the race, official event merchandise, and a quantity of the award-winning posters. His poster design will be used in conjunction with select Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit promotional material.
