Detroit Grand Prix Gets New Title Sponsor

The 1998 Detroit Grand Prix

Detroit, MI (November 11, 1998) - Tenneco Automotive and IMG Motorsports announced Monday that Tenneco has assumed title sponsorship of the Detroit Grand Prix, effective immediately. The race, scheduled for next Aug. 8 on The Raceway at Belle Isle, will now be known as the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit.

Tenneco Automotive replaces ITT Automotive, which had sponsored the event from 1992-98. "We had a long and fruitful relationship with ITT Automotive and we will miss them," said Bud Stanner, president of IMG Motorsports. "However, we now have a great opportunity to work with Tenneco Automotive and build for the future."

Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer said, "The Grand Prix of Detroit brings both national and international exposure to the City of Detroit. We welcome Tenneco Automotive as the new title sponsor and look forward to the races returning to Belle Isle Park."

Tenneco Automotive, headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., manufacturers the world's leading ride control and exhaust products and systems, including Walker Quiet-Flow Mufflers, Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks and struts, DynoMax performance exhaust products and Rancho premium, off-ride control products.
