Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"I guess it was difficult to anticipate what the red Bridgestone tires were going to do for us. I still don't quite know exactly because we were not too happy with the balance of the McDonald's car in the prequalifying run, so we made a change, not dramatic, but every little bit counts around here and has a big influence because the mechanical grip is such an added premium. We were just a lot happier as soon as we took the track with the reds on. Yeah, it just clicked. We just went a little quicker lap after lap. It was pretty much spot-on. I was a little questioning, you know, whether we should go back or not. Obviously, when we analyzed things, we knew A.J. was on blacks, so we said, you know what, if he clicks another quicker lap on reds, we were going to really look stupid again. It was just a tough call. But wish we could have kept that second set for the race tomorrow. It would have been nice. Anyways, it was a good qualifying, you know, another pole. Definitely a good place to start from the front here."
A.J. Allmendinger #7 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"I think today has been kind of a struggle for us. In practice we were way off the pace. We made some changes. The whole Forsythe Indeck team did a great job to get the car right in qualifying. I was really, really pleased with the first set of tires. We used the Bridgestone blacks. The car was spot-on. I think I could have been even a little bit quicker. Just didn't get everything out of the last lap. Right now we're just struggling a bit on the reds just trying to get an overall balance. It's our job as a team at Forsythe to figure out why we just keep kind of losing the pace when we put the reds on, since we're going to have to at least run one set tomorrow, figure that out and go from there."
Justin Wilson #9 CDW Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"My car was generally getting better as the day went on. We made some improvements. I felt that we're going the right direction, but unfortunately not quick enough to challenge the two sitting to my right. We've got a little bit of work to do to get ready for tomorrow's race. We're just going to go away, work on it, see what we can find, see if we can get a little more grip out of the car. That's where we are just struggling a little bit for overall grip really. The balance is not too bad. Slight understeer. You know, we just got to do a slightly better job."
Paul Tracy #3 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"Well it's a disappointing result for us because we were so quick this morning. I went out on the Bridgestone Reds for my second sting but I just couldn't go any faster, I backed off for my last lap because I knew I wasn't going to improve anymore. There's some good passing zones at this track and we know we have a good car on the black tires so we should be in pretty good shape for the race tomorrow."
Alex Tagliani #15 Aussie Vineyards Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"Pretty good, top five is not bad. We were close to third. It's a shame because we had a really good car on the first set of red tires. Our run was much better on the second stint. We were up a tenth and on the last two corners from the end we lost it. It was unfortunate, but we are on the up and we have a better direction for tomorrow. Our car was really good today and the team is doing a great job. Now we are just trying to aim as high as we can and recover points from San Jose."
Andrew Ranger #27 MSR Houston Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"We had a very good qualifying session. We were 12th with our first set of tires so we worked on the car a bit before going out on the red tires. It paid off because I jumped up to sixth. I was pushing really hard on my last lap and I was up by two tenths but lost time in turn 9 and that cost us a few positions. This result is great for the team, they gave me a really good car and I am excited to be starting on the third row."
Bruno Junqueira #2 Newman/Haas Racing Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone/Lola
"We went out early in qualifying and on my first run I set the fastest lap time. My next lap was better but I was blocked by Will Power. On the second run I was still frustrated and made some small mistakes each lap which cost me some time. The car was running good all day and I thought we could qualify in the top four at least. We need to have a trouble free race and get a good finish."
Oriol Servia #6 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"The Gulfstream -- PKV Racing car was actually not that bad. We are not that far off from being in the top-five. Obviously we are not happy qualifying eighth, but it is a tough track to get it right and get a lap together. We are just .17 from being fifth and if we were we would be a lot happier with the same car. We were just on the wrong side of the 60.0's. The Gulfstream -- PKV Racing team just needs to keep working. It is going to be a long race and this is a track where it is easy to make a mistake."
Nelson Philippe #4 CTE Racing --HVM Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"We changed the car dramatically after the morning session and we are definitely closer. Unfortunately, we are chasing to catch up as we are a bit behind after struggling all day yesterday and again this morning. We now have the best car we've had all weekend and it is a long race tomorrow. I know the guys will give me great pitstops and I'll give it 110% out there, but it's not going to be easy. I will be pleased with a top-six."
Will Power #5 Aussie Vineyards Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"Today was alright, not the best. The first run was hard to get a good lap in because I got stuck in traffic. On the second run I lost four tenths in braking in one spot. Overall the car felt good, we didn't have much of a change from the red to black tires. Hopefully we will have a better result tomorrow."
Charles Zwolsman #34 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"I'm not very happy right now. I had two laps to go and I got blocked by Jan Heylen as I was finishing a lap and starting my final one. Those would have been my two fastest ones. I know I could have been up there with Andrew."
Dan Clarke #14 CTE Racing-HVM Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"It is continuing to be a challenging weekend. We know that as a team we are much quicker than where we qualified. It has been one of those character building weekends so far, where we just keep picking ourselves up off of the floor to get where we belong."
Katherine Legge #20 Bell Micro Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"Obviously, the Bell Micro -- PKV Racing team is not happy with the way qualifying went today. We have consistently been in the top-12 and I really thought we had a legitimate chance to be in the top-10 after final qualifying. I am not sure what went wrong, so we are going to go back to the transporter and review the data. I am confident that the PKV Racing team will come up with the answers and make the changes necessary to improve the car for tomorrow's race."
Nicky Pastorelli #8 Curacao/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone
"I am not sure what is going on, we just aren't improving. I do not have enough grip and I am experiencing understeer, which is not allowing me to increase my speed. I had a wheel locking problem at the end of the qualifying session, which caused me to flat spot on my 13th lap out and that ended my run. We will see what we can do for tomorrow and hopefully have a good race."
