McDONALD'S DRIVER BOURDAIS QUALIFIED SECOND FOR THE CENTRIX FINANCIAL GRAND PRIX OF DENVER PRESENTED BY PACIFICARE WHILE PACIFICARE DRIVER SERVIA TO START EIGHTH

Sebastien Bourdais, No. 1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "The whole day went pretty well. We made a big, big change comparing to yesterday. There was absolutely no damage to the car, and we couldn't understand why we went so much slower with the new tires yesterday. So we worked really hard yesterday night with the McDonald's crew, and got a big chunk of the offset between PT and myself out of the way. You know, we thought we had it right, and then the more the track picks up rubber, the bigger the problem is. We came to understeer a bit too much, and can't get the best out of the Bridgestone tires so it's a real shame. We end up going faster with a significant amount of laps on the tires so I guess there's some good in it and some bad. The bad was today; the good should be tomorrow. It looks like even when I really try to abuse them, they don't go away, so it's a good thing. I'm kind of beating myself up because I think we could have got the pole with going back out with the same set of tires. I guess a lesson was learned. If it happens again next year, we'll try to address that."

- FAST FACTS: Will be his third race here. Started from pole here last year but he and teammate Junqueira made contact on the opening lap and he dropped to 15th place. Charged back and led the final 11 laps to win what he considers the best race of his career. Started third and finished second to teammate Junqueira in 2003...Leads the point standings with 216 to second place Paul Tracy's 190 (+26).

Oriol Servia, No. 2 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "We didn't improve as we thought we were going to. We just cannot get the PacifiCare car set-up for me here. We're struggling a little bit to cure the understeer. I'm not worried about starting in eighth place because the PacifiCare car is always good in the race and we have good pit stops. I can still have a good race but you always want to qualify well. Sebastien showed that it was possible to pass here last year so starting in eighth place is not the end of the world."

- FAST FACTS: Will be his fourth race here. Started and finished sixth in 2004; earned his best start to date of second place in 2003 and finished third; started 13th and finished 11th in 2002...Is ranked fourth in the standings with 160 points to leader Bourdais' 216.

- NEWMAN/HAAS RACING FACTS: NHR has won TWO races (Bourdais 2004, Junqueira 2003) and THREE poles in Denver (Bourdais 2004, Junqueira 2003; Michael Andretti 1991*). They have earned a total of SIX podium finishes (2nd -- Bourdais 2003; 3rd -- Junqueira 2004, da Matta 2002, Mi. Andretti 1991*). *Different track configuration than currently used....With 86 wins, 89 pole positions and 213 podium finishes since their first season of competition in 1983, Newman/Haas Racing is the most successful team competing in the Champ Car World Series and the second most successful overall open-wheel racing team competing today. Marlboro Team Penske (MTP) has earned 124 open-wheel wins and is in their 38th season while NHR has earned 86 and is in their 23rd. During the years that NHR has been in existence (1983-current) both MTP and NHR have earned 86 wins (includes MTP's 7-24 Milwaukee win). Perhaps the most impressive detail however is the fact that NHR ran only one driver it's first six seasons (Mario Andretti) while MTP ran two-to-three drivers per season. From 1989 to present, NHR has been a two-car team while MTP expanded from a two car team to run three cars for three of those seasons.

ON THE SCHEDULE TOMORROW: The morning practice session will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM PT while final qualifying will take place from 2:00-3:00 PM. Fans can follow along live by monitoring the free timing and scoring feature on the official website of the series, www.champcarworldseries.com/.
